Crisis Response Team
Mini Therapy Horses is privileged to be a part of The LA Mayor’s Crisis Response Team (CRT). The CRT is a volunteer organization committed to providing resources and support to survivors of crisis situations in the City of Los Angeles. Volunteers with the CRT undergo extensive training in crisis care, intervention, and working with other city departments. Response Team Members volunteer to be “On Call” to respond to events in the city at the request of the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Fire Department and area hospitals. Emergency responses include homicides, suicides, death notification assistance, domestic violence support, officer involved shootings, infant death, and serious traffic accidents.
When deployed, CRT Members liaison between crisis survivors and departmental officials such as police officers and investigators. The CRT provides immediate comfort, emotional support, and resources to survivors of traumatic events to help those most affected begin their path to recovery.
Mini Therapy Horses provides their team of miniature therapy horses and their CRT handlers to the Los Angeles Mayor’s Crisis Response Team. They are on-call 24/7, providing comfort to those involved in traumatic incidents and can be called upon as first responders at a moment’s notice.
About the Mayor's Crisis Response Team:
The Mayor’s Crisis Response Team (CRT) was formed in 1992 at the behest of Los Angeles Police Captain Tim King. CRT’s mission is to support crisis survivors on the worst day of their lives. This volunteer organization operates out of the Mayor’s Office of Public Safety. The CRT is managed by the Mayor's Office of Public Safety and overseen by the Office of Mayor Karen Bass.
