In relation to Mini Therapy Horses’ visits with the LA County Department of Children and Family Services, we will begin visits to Rosemary Children’s Services in Pasadena to work with young teenage girls living in the residential facility called Cottage House. These young women have been through so much and may feel like they’ve lost everything. Mini Therapy Horses wants to become a family for them by extension and provide a regular uplifting visit that they can count on where they can forget for a time about their situations and happily talk to and hug one of our minis. The therapy benefits of just one visit with a mini therapy horse can be life-changing, and we are exciting to provide hope and comfort to these brave young survivors.
Rosemary Cottage (home to nineteen girls) and four group homes (home to six girls each) provide safe and supportive environments for adolescent girls between the ages of 13 and 18. All the residential facilities are located within the Pasadena area. The youth supported by Rosemary Children’s Services are placed through the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services or the Los Angeles County Probation Department. The girls are helped to heal and grow through the following extensive educational, therapeutic and recreational services.
